You’re an adult. It’s your responsibility to make decisions that are in line with goals that are important to you. It’s not your responsibility to make decisions that make others feel good about what they’re eating or drinking.
Worrying about what others think is toxic. You will never win that battle. There will always be someone out there that has a differing opinion. So, if you constantly make decisions based on other’s thoughts and opinions you will never be true to yourself. Clients that find themselves in this situation are often overcome with anxiety and depression. They feel helpless and out of control. When they learn to set up boundaries and set goals for themselves there is a liberation that follows. They find that are free to do what is best for them. They also see that all that worrying was wasted because the people they were trying to please really didn’t notice or care.
