Do you know the difference between happiness and joy? Most of us do not. Happiness depends on the circumstances. When things are going well we can feel happy. However, we can feel joy despite the circumstances. This is because joy is a choice. That is right, we can choose joy.
On a piece of paper, write out what you consider to be the ‘ingredients for joy and meaning.’ Make a list of specific conditions that are in place when everything feels good in your life. This is real life. Don’t create something unrealistic and ‘perfect’.
On another sheet of paper, create your ‘to do’ list for the week. Be sure to include everything that needs to get done. If it isn’t on the list, you aren’t going to do it.
Now compare your first list with the second list. Do they line up? Why not? What would need to happen for them to come into alignment? What can you say no to? Are there things you can take off your list? What is stopping you from doing so?
Until next time….
