Medical Cannabis: Is it for me?

People who use cannabis for medical reasons use it to improve their quality of life. Medical use is linked to managing physical and mental problems and to preserving health. Research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief — particularly neuropathic pain — nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia.
What is a Cannabinoid? It is groups of chemical compounds present in the cannabis plant that affect the body and mind through their interaction with special receptors. There are six primary cannabinoids and each have a different impact.

CBN: It is somewhat psychoactive at roughly 10% the activity of THC. CBN is a breakdown product that occurs when THC is exposed to heat or light. CBN causes drowsiness and reduces spasms.

CBG: Is commonly found in on-psychoactive hemp plant, has been shown to significantly counteract and prevent tumor formation.

CBD: It is not psychoactive. Studies have shown it to have anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-nausea, neuroprotective, blood pressure lowering and pain-killing properties.

THC: Most well-known and the most psychoactive. THC has the ability to alter behavior, mood, perception, and consciousness. THC is responsible for the euphoric feeling some people consider as being high.

THCV: It is psychoactive that may help treat diabetes and is being investigated as an anti-obesity drug.

CBC: It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and very promising antibiotic properties.

While the benefits are known, it is still a controlled substance. Medical cannabis in Illinois needs to be applied for and there are certain qualifications that need to be met.
We have begun doing more work with several groups and found them to be very helpful.
