Weight loss Wednesday tip submitted by Beck Diet Institute:
Everyone makes mistakes. Beating yourself up after a dieting mistake will do NOTHING but erode your confidence and make it harder to get back on track. Instead, recognize that you made a mistake, figure out why it happened, and how you can prevent the same thing in the future. Then move on!
Okay…reflecting on what happened, why, and how to improve is useful. It can be done is a kind and gentle manner. It does not have to done in the spirit of judgment and distain. The tip is suggesting that we are showing self-compassion. Most clients I see struggle to do this. There is a belief that nothing they do will ever be good enough. There is this belief that they must be perfect. NEWS FLASH…no one is perfect.
Until next time….
